Online therapy for women, at every stage of life

You hold a lot: work, family, friendships, aging parents, your own health. Often you’re the one everyone else turns to. Therapy is a place where the focus is on you.

I’m Tammy Gold, a licensed clinical social worker. I work with women from new motherhood through midlife and beyond, on anxiety, stress, relationships and the decisions each stage brings.

Online sessions for adults located in California, New Jersey, Oregon or Maine. Alma checks your specific plan before you book.

Who this is for

This page is for adult women who want room to sort out what’s going on and what to do next.

You might notice that:

This is individual psychotherapy with a licensed clinician. It isn’t coaching. Couples and family sessions are a different format that insurance may treat differently, so ask before you book if you’re interested in a joint session. Medication is a separate question: your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist can assess whether it could help, and with your permission I can coordinate with them.

What we might work on

How the Care Map Method™ shapes our sessions

The Care Map Method™ is the framework I use to organize our work, alongside a standard clinical assessment. It isn’t a separate tested treatment. It keeps four kinds of needs in view:

BIOLOGICAL

Sleep, hormones, health and energy across life stages.

EMOTIONAL

What you feel, and what you’ve been setting aside.

SOCIAL

The people who depend on you, and the people you lean on.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Work, home, schedule and money.

Then we work in four steps:

  1. Map the emotion and trigger. We start with what brought you in now and map where the strain shows up across your week.
  2. Match the need with a strategy. We name what you need, such as rest, a boundary or a decision, and pick one strategy that fits.
  3. Merge the strategy into daily life. We decide where it goes in your real week, so it doesn’t stay a good intention.
  4. Manage communication and responses. We practice the words you’ll use with the people involved, then review and adjust each session.
TRY THIS

The honest yes

Before you agree to the next request, pause and ask yourself two questions: “Do I have the time?” and “Do I want to, or do I feel I have to?” If the answers are no and have to, try “Let me check and get back to you.” A short delay gives you room to decide instead of defaulting to yes.

How we’ll look at progress

We’ll choose markers that fit you, such as:

We check these every few sessions and change the plan if something isn’t helping. I can’t promise a particular result; we focus on what is in your hands.

Sessions, licenses and insurance

Sessions are online by video for adults who are physically located in California, New Jersey, Oregon or Maine during each session. Licenses: California LCSW #136364; New Jersey LCSW #44SC05528100; Oregon LCSW #L16530; Maine LCSW #LC26593.

Through Alma, I’m in network with Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Optum plans including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar and Oxford. Coverage depends on your specific plan, not only the insurance company’s name. Alma checks it before your first session, including any copay or deductible, and handles the billing. I’m a licensed clinical social worker (California LCSW #136364; New Jersey LCSW #44SC05528100; Oregon LCSW #L16530; Maine LCSW #LC26593) and the founder of the Care Map Method™. Questions people ask

Do you only work with women?

No. I work with adults of all genders. This page describes the concerns women most often bring to me.

What do women most often come to therapy for?

In my practice, common reasons include anxiety, burnout, relationship strain, motherhood, caring for parents and big life transitions. You don’t need one clear reason to start.

Can we work on midlife and perimenopause?

Yes, on the emotional side: mood, sleep, identity and relationships during midlife changes. Medical symptoms belong with your doctor, and with your permission I can coordinate with them.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on what you’re working on. Some people come for a focused stretch around one issue; others stay longer. We review progress together regularly and decide.

Do you take my insurance?

I see clients through Alma, and through Alma I’m in network with Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Optum plans including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar and Oxford. Coverage still depends on your specific plan. Alma checks it before your first appointment, including any copay or deductible. Please share plan and health details through Alma’s secure intake, not by text or email.

Where do I need to be during sessions?

Sessions are online by video, and you need to be physically in California, New Jersey, Oregon or Maine during each one. Your insurance plan can come from another state; what matters for licensing is where you are during the session. Alma checks whether your plan covers sessions with me.
