Text in this video

Everyone asks about the baby.

What to do about it

  1. Notice it. Count how many people asked how YOU are this week.
  2. Answer honestly once, to one person. “Hard, actually” changes the conversation.
  3. Accept help in specifics. “Could you bring dinner Thursday” gets a yes.
  4. Find one other mother at the same stage. Nothing substitutes for it.
  5. Tell your provider the truth at your postpartum visit.

Support isn’t a luxury in the postpartum period. It is part of the clinical picture.

Supported mothers recover faster, and babies co-regulate better with a caregiver who has help.

Where to go from here

If your mood, anxiety or thoughts are the main problem, start with therapy, which you can use insurance for through Alma. If what you need is a practical plan for help, nights and childcare, that’s coaching.
