Text in this video

It isn’t just the baby.

What you’re actually carrying

  1. BIOLOGICAL — hormonal change, physical recovery, and genuine sleep deprivation
  2. EMOTIONAL — mood shifts, loss of identity, isolation nobody sees
  3. RELATIONAL — your marriage, your friendships and your own mother, all renegotiated
  4. ENVIRONMENTAL — constant overstimulation and a household with no real support
  5. People ask about one of these. Usually the baby.

When you say “I don’t know why this is so hard,” this is why. You’re carrying four things, not one.

Naming which one is heaviest this week is often the first useful thing a mother does.

Where to go from here

If your mood, anxiety or thoughts are the main problem, start with therapy, which you can use insurance for through Alma. If what you need is a practical plan for help, nights and childcare, that’s coaching.
