Therapy · Caregiver Support

You're taking care of everyone. Who's taking care of you?

Caregiver burnout doesn't usually look like collapse. It looks like snapping at your kids, dreading the phone, resenting a parent you love, and feeling guilty about all three.

What burnout actually feels like

Why it isn't a willpower problem

Caregiver burnout is what happens when demand exceeds capacity for long enough. You didn't fail at coping — you ran out of room. Most people come to me having already tried harder, and the trying harder is part of what's exhausting them.

The work is twofold: process what you're carrying emotionally, and change the actual structure of the care so there's less to carry. Talking alone won't fix a schedule that has no margin in it. This is where the decisions and the feelings get worked on together.

How sessions work

Sessions aren’t only talking. I use the Care Map Method™, the framework I use to organize our work alongside a standard clinical assessment, to look at what’s driving the stress across four areas, then build a plan you can actually use. It isn’t a separate tested treatment.

BIOLOGICAL

Sleep, health, energy, and the physical load you're carrying.

EMOTIONAL

Anxiety, grief, resentment, guilt, and what you're not saying out loud.

SOCIAL

Your marriage, your kids, your siblings, your work, your support (or lack of it).

ENVIRONMENTAL

Your home, your routines, your logistics, the setting the stress lives in.

The aim of the first session is for you to leave with a clearer picture and one thing to try next.

What changes

The goal is to move from surviving the week to having a plan: what to delegate, what to accept, what to stop doing, how to say the hard thing to a sibling, and how to be a good daughter or son without disappearing entirely. We check every few sessions what’s helping and change the plan if something isn’t. I can’t promise a particular result; we focus on what is in your hands.

Sessions, licenses and insurance

Sessions are online by video for adults who are physically located in California, New Jersey, Oregon or Maine during each session. Licenses: California LCSW #136364; New Jersey LCSW #44SC05528100; Oregon LCSW #L16530; Maine LCSW #LC26593.

Through Alma, I’m in network with Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Optum plans including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar and Oxford. Coverage depends on your specific plan, not only the insurance company’s name. Alma checks it before your first session, including any copay or deductible, and handles the billing. Questions people ask

Is this therapy or coaching?

These sessions are individual psychotherapy with a licensed clinician, booked through Alma. Care Map coaching and the Care Map call below are private-pay services, separate from therapy, that aren’t billed to insurance.

Do you take my insurance?

I see clients through Alma, and through Alma I’m in network with Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Optum plans including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar and Oxford. Coverage still depends on your specific plan. Alma checks it before your first appointment, including any copay or deductible. Please share plan and health details through Alma’s secure intake, not by text or email.

Where do I need to be during sessions?

Sessions are online by video, and you need to be physically in California, New Jersey, Oregon or Maine during each one. Your insurance plan can come from another state; what matters for licensing is where you are during the session. Alma checks whether your plan covers sessions with me.
