If you have Aetna, you may be able to use it for online therapy with me through Alma, depending on your specific plan. Alma checks your plan, shows an estimate of your cost, and handles the billing.
I’m Tammy Gold, a licensed clinical social worker. I see adults for anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, parenting and family stress, and big life changes.
Online sessions for adults located in California, New Jersey, Oregon or Maine. Alma checks your specific plan before you book.

Through Alma, I’m in network with Aetna. Alma checks your specific plan before your first session, shows an estimate of your cost, and bills Aetna for you.
Sessions are online by video for adults physically located in California, New Jersey, Oregon or Maine during each session. Where your plan was issued and where you are during sessions are separate questions; Alma checks the coverage.
Medicare and Medicaid plans have their own rules and networks. Check on Alma before you book, or email a general question first.
Individual therapy for adults, including:
The Care Map Method™ is the framework I use to organize our work, alongside a standard clinical assessment. It isn’t a separate tested treatment. It keeps four kinds of needs in view:
Sleep, health, energy and stress load.
What you feel, and what you fear.
Your relationships and support.
Home, schedule, money and daily demands.
Then we work in four steps:

I’m a licensed clinical social worker (California LCSW #136364; New Jersey LCSW #44SC05528100; Oregon LCSW #L16530; Maine LCSW #LC26593) and the founder of the Care Map Method™. I’ve worked directly with families for more than 20 years. My book, Secrets of the Nanny Whisperer (Penguin), is about finding and working with a nanny; my therapy work draws on my broader clinical training.
I’ve also shared parenting and family guidance as an expert for outlets including the Today Show, Good Morning America and The New York Times. Press and media.
Not necessarily. Plans differ even within the same company. Alma checks your specific plan before you book.
It depends on your plan’s copay, coinsurance and deductible. Alma shows an estimate before you book.
An EAP is a separate benefit with its own network and session limits. Ask your EAP whether I’m included. If not, you can use your health plan through Alma.
The plans on this page are the ones I’m currently in network with through Alma. If yours isn’t listed, email tammy@caremapmethod.com with a general question. Please don’t include plan numbers or health details.
Through Alma, I’m in network with Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Optum plans including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar and Oxford. Coverage still depends on your specific plan.
Sessions are online by video, and you need to be physically in California, New Jersey, Oregon or Maine during each one. Your insurance plan can come from another state; what matters for licensing is where you are during the session. Alma checks whether your plan covers sessions with me.
