If you have Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, you may be able to use it for online therapy with me through Headway, depending on your specific plan. Headway checks your plan, shows an estimate of your cost, and handles the billing.

Through Headway, I’m in network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. Headway checks your specific plan before your first session, shows an estimate of your cost, and bills Horizon for you.
Sessions are online by video. I’m licensed in New Jersey (LCSW #44SC05528100), and you need to be physically in New Jersey, or another state where I’m licensed, during each session. Where your plan was issued and where you are during sessions are separate questions; Headway checks the coverage.
Horizon members from Bergen County to Cape May can meet with me by video, from home, the office or a parked car on a commuting day. If you’re on a Horizon Medicare Advantage plan, check your plan on Headway before booking.

The Care Map Method™ is the framework I use to organize our work, alongside a standard clinical assessment. It isn’t a separate tested treatment. It keeps four kinds of needs in view:
Sleep, health, energy and stress load.
What you feel, and what you fear.
Your relationships and support.
Home, schedule, money and daily demands.
Then we work in four steps:

I’m a licensed clinical social worker (California LCSW #136364; New Jersey LCSW #44SC05528100; Oregon LCSW #L16530; Maine LCSW #LC26593), a licensed independent social worker in Iowa (LISW #141693) and the founder of the Care Map Method™. I’ve worked directly with families for more than 20 years. My book, Secrets of the Nanny Whisperer (Penguin), is about finding and working with a nanny; my therapy work draws on my broader clinical training.
I’ve also shared parenting and family guidance as an expert for outlets including the Today Show, Good Morning America and The New York Times. Press and media.
Not necessarily. Plans differ even within the same company. Headway checks your specific plan before you book.
It depends on your plan’s copay, coinsurance and deductible. Headway shows an estimate before you book.
An EAP is a separate benefit with its own network and session limits. Ask your EAP whether I’m included. If not, you can use your health plan through Alma or Headway.
The plans on this site are the ones I’m currently in network with through Alma and Headway. If yours isn’t listed, email tammy@caremapmethod.com with a general question. Please don’t include plan numbers or health details.
Through Alma: Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Optum plans including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar and Oxford. In Maine, Alma currently lists Aetna, Cigna and Optum plans. Through Headway, for clients in California, New Jersey and Oregon: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, Carelon, Horizon BCBS of New Jersey, Providence Health Plan and Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. Coverage still depends on your specific plan.
Sessions are online by video, and you need to be physically in California, New Jersey, Oregon, Maine or Iowa during each one. Your insurance plan can come from another state; what matters for licensing is where you are during the session. Alma checks whether your plan covers sessions with me.
